Hip LA-Style Hong Kong Burger Joint

Our Client

Burger Joys, a LA-style burger joint in Hong Kong, first opened in 2015 to bring “Happiness You Can Taste” to the city. They serve up mouth-watering burgers along with spicy wings, milkshakes and more in the heart of Wan Chai and Sai Ying Pun.

They have been very thoughtful and creatively crafted our web design from scratch. The team have been effectively communicating with us throughout the web building process to ensure the website is the perfect one for us. - Manu Lee, Owner

The Challenge

Burger Joys' previous website was built on WordPress, using a pre-existing theme that had many limitations—not being mobile-responsive, nor matching their brand image. They wanted to present their food menu more attractively and needed a way to edit their items and prices quickly. They also hoped to feature their food delivery partner links and catering services.

Additionally, with the growing number of burger restaurants opening in Hong Kong, they were worried about increasing competition. It became crucial for them to improve their brand storytelling and attract new customers with a website that provided restaurant information.

The Solution

We built a custom, mobile-responsive website highlighting Burger Joys' urban-cool branding and the story behind their food. To amplify brand awareness and image, we employed Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) techniques and aimed to create a great User Experience (UX).

In the website's design, we took inspiration from their physical restaurant location and we chose colours that matched the same look and feel. We updated the food menu was updated for easier reading—using multiple tabs for navigation, and providing an option to download the PDF version. We built a content management system (CMS) for this page so they could update their food items and prices with ease.

With a user-first approach, we made sure that the final design allowed customers to quickly find the restaurant menu, location, hours and delivery options, while also encouraging them to browse through content covering the company's background and the ingredients within their burgers. We added a blog section to increase community engagement with brand news and events.

In optimising for search engines, we crafted original text content from scratch, basing all copywriting on interviews with the founder. We embedded relevant keywords and topics throughout the website, keeping in mind best SEO practices, and ensured that technical aspects such as loading times and metadata were fixed.

We compiled monthly reports looking at user behaviour, search traffic, and keyword rankings—providing research on new trends and overall monthly performance.

The Achieved Result

  • 2x overall traffic and search traffic
  • 5x number of organic keyword appearances
  • In top 3 pages for 33 keywords
  • Surpassed all main competitors in rankings
